Analytics Opt Out Bookmarklet

This opt-out bookmarklet is a small tool that tells the analytics script not to count visits from your browser.

It's designed for site owners and developers who want to view and test their site without inflating their own traffic numbers.

This applies only to your browser and only on your device — it does not affect other visitors or disable analytics for anyone else.

Installation in Safari

To install the opt-out bookmarklet in Safari, follow these steps:

  1. Press ⌘D (Add Bookmark) on any page
  2. Choose any folder
  3. Name the bookmark "Analytics Opt Out"
  4. Click "Add"
  5. Click Bookmarks → Show Bookmarks
  6. Find "Analytics Opt Out" in the list
  7. Right-click "Analytics Opt Out" and select "Edit Address"
  8. Copy the following code into the address field:
javascript:analyticsOptOut();

Usage

When you want to opt out of analytics, visit a page on your site and click the bookmarklet.

All previous visits from your browser will be deleted, and all future visits will be excluded from analytics.

Once a page has been opted out, you will see a small grey square in the top-left corner of the page.
